Michael Stine and Stephen Andrus combined to rush for 228 yards and six touchdowns and Nevis' defense forced four turnovers and recorded a safety in leading the Tigers to a 68-20 Great Northern West Conference football victory over Mesabi Academy Friday afternoon.
Stine rushed nine times for 113 yards and five TDs and Andrus gained 115 yards on 16 carries and a score as Nevis improved to 3-1 in the conference and 3-3 overall.
Touchdown runs of 13, 9 and 29 yards by Stine helped give Nevis a 30-6 lead after the first quarter. Jon Gunkel also returned a fumble 15 yards for a score in the opening period.
Stine's 16-yard TD run and Andrus' 10-yard TD run in the second quarter pushed the lead to 46-12 at the intermission.
Jerry Lampl caught a 51-yard TD pass from Chad Schmidt and Stine scored from 22 yards out in the third period as the Tigers carried a 60-20 lead into the final quarter.

Nevis concluded the scoring on Tyler Cash's 43-yard TD run and on a safety when Tom Johnson tackled Mesabi Academy running back Ben Lewis in the end zone.
Gary Bell provided the only offense for Mesabi Academy by returning three kickoffs for touchdowns. Bell scored on kickoff returns of 81, 80 and 85 yards to account for the Bulldogs' three scores.
Cash added 47 yards on four carries as the Tigers rushed for 359 yards and seven TDs. Lampl also caught two passes for 44 yards.
Defensively, Michael Eskelson made seven solo tackles while Luke Potter and Brandon Daniels made five solo tackles each. Zach Tesch and Reier Ringstad recovered fumbles and Chris Gooch intercepted a pass. Nick Bolton chipped in 2.5 sacks.
Nevis travels to Hill City for another conference game Friday night.
