Northern Light Opera Company held dress rehearsal Thursday, July 27 for "South Pacific" with opening night Friday, July 28. "South Pacific" runs through Saturday, Aug. 5 at Armory Square.
The WWII setting features interactions between American troops and nurses with the local South Pacific inhabitants. The characters are charming but conflicted, with delightful music and issues about cultural and racial differences that are as relevant today as they were in the 1950s.
Northern Light Opera Company celebrates its 16th year of producing professional-quality musical theater in the heart of lakes country. Lisa Dove (Juilliard drama graduate) and Greg Paul (University of Ohio) return as stage and technical directors.
The popular musical features local and regional actors singing memorable songs like "Some Enchanted Evening," "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair," and "Bali Ha'i."
