David Sobieski announced his candidacy for Minnesota House District 2B and his intention to seek the DFL endorsement.
Sobieski is a resident of Butler township in Otter Tail County.
“I’m running for Minnesota House District 2B because of my commitment to rural Minnesota. I want to represent our rural interests, not ideologies. I am a moderate who believes in bipartisanship. I believe I can best represent the majority of folks in this district. I want to invest in our communities. Where bipartisanship is possible I will work hard to achieve it. Compromise and consensus are necessary to get our work done. I am a problem solver who wants to work in a spirit of cooperation. I don’t have all the answers but I am a good listener. I hope you agree and will join me on the path to improving Northern Minnesota.”
Sobieski is a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served from 1987 through 1990. “I was a parachute rigger and sewer in the Air Force. It was my job to keep pilots and flight crews safe. I served my country and in doing so learned a trade that allowed me to open a small business.” He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Campus with a degree in Adult Education and Creative Writing.
Sobieski and his wife, Amy, currently own and operate CanvasWork Inc., a sewing and manufacturing business in New York Mills. Sobieski has been married to Amy for 14 years. They have two sons, John, age 11, and Henry, age 9.
