The suburban Twin Cities police officer who was shot and killed Monday by another man after responding to a domestic disturbance has ties to Duluth.
The mother and brother of Richard Crittenden, a nine-year veteran of the North St. Paul Police Department, live in Duluth, Duluth police said today.
The suspect in the officer slaying was also killed and a Maplewood police officer was wounded.
The 57-year-old Crittenden is the first North St. Paul police officer to die in the line of duty.
