A head-on collision west of here sent several people to the hospital on Friday night.

The Minnesota State Patrol and the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident on Highway 108, west of Pelican Rapids at mile marker 10 at 7:17 p.m.

The driver of a 2007 Chevy Impala, driven by Sydney Sachs, 19, of Pelican Rapids, was headed west when she lost control and was struck by a 2003 GMC Sierra headed east, according to a Minnesota State Patrol release. The driver of the GMC Sierra, Laif Rognlin, 25, of Fargo, swerved to avoid Sachs’ vehicle but struck it on the driver’s side, the State Patrol said.

Sachs and her passenger, Angel Murillo, 18, and Rognlin and his two passengers, his wife Amanda Rognlin, 25, of Fargo, and relative Lance Rognlin, 19, suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The State Patrol is still investigating the crash but alcohol and icy roads were not a factor in the crash, the release said.
