Park Rapids' first request for an outdoor recreation grant from the Minnesota DNR's Land and Water Conservation program, to replace the city-owned tennis courts at Depot Park, was not awarded. Local representatives are trying again.

She came to evaluate the need for an outdoor recreation grant from the Land and Water Conservation (LAWCON) program, which the city hopes will help replace four of the eight asphalt tennis courts at the park with post-tensioned concrete. Explaining the history of the project are Park Rapids Tennis Association Pres. Kathy Peterson, Parks Board Chair Sue Cutler and City Planner Andrew Mack. (Robin Fish/Enterprise)
