Park Rapids School Dist. 309 non-licensed staff has ratified a new two-year union contract.
Superintendent Glenn Chiodo told the school board Monday night he will bring the agreement to the Aug. 4 meeting for their approval.
The tentative agreement calls for a 3.5 percent wage increase the first year (July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2008) and 4.0 percent the second (July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009).
The percentages are the same as the increases other union and employee groups in the district received.
Local 2768 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) represents cooks, custodians, paraprofessionals, secretaries, bus drivers and other school staff.

The union filed for mediation after only one negotiating session with the school board. That was in May 2007.
According to Chiodo, Local 2768 members ratified the proposal July 1.
