Ronald "Ron" Rodney Conger, 68, of Menahga, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008 at his home.

He was born Jan. 11, 1940 in Hobart Township, Otter Tail County, west of Menahga, to Clifford and Violet (Urbach) Conger. He attended Sybil Lake Country School near his home and then attended Frazee Public High School.

He gained employment constructing gas pipelines near Hibbing. He also constructed silos for the Madison Silo Co. throughout Minnesota and the Dakotas.

On Aug. 7, 1965 he married LaVelle Marie Kimball in Virginia. They had two children. They lived on Long Lake near Vergas, where he worked as a surveyor for Ulteig Engineers. They later moved to a dairy farm in Spruce Grove Township, Becker County, near Wolf Lake. He was a dairy farmer and also did custom bulldozing. They left the farm in 1985 and made their home nearby. After farming, he expanded his bulldozing business and ultimately entered into business with his son, LaVern.

He is survived by his wife, LaVelle, of Menahga; a daughter, Rose (Charles) Senger, of Eagle Bend; a son, LaVern, of Menahga; two granddaughters; two sisters: Gwen (Casey) Stengl of Detroit Lakes and Mary Flath of New York Mills; a brother, Douglas (Barb), of Frazee; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one niece.

Funeral service: Friday, Dec. 19 at Bethany Lutheran Church near Menahga.

Casket bearers: Richard, Ernie and Mike Kimball, Mark and Jessie Flath, Chuck Senger, Fred Ely and Steve Schoberg.

Interment: Bethany Lutheran Cemetery.
