Alcohol is believed involved in a vehicle rollover Sept. 26 in Hubbard County.
According to the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office, a caller reported hearing a car crash at 2:04 a.m. on County 40 in Lake Emma Township. The caller said she could see an overturned vehicle at the end of her driveway.
Deputies dispatched to the scene found a severely damaged 2007 Mazda SUV in the ditch with nobody around. The witness told deputies that she saw a male get into another vehicle and leave the scene.
Investigation showed the Mazda was traveling west on County 40 when it left the roadway, struck a driveway approach, and rolled before coming to rest on its roof.
Deputies found the Mazda’s owner, Joseph Sweitzer, 30, of Park Rapids, at his residence. Sweitzer admitted driving the vehicle when it crashed and having too much to drink earlier that night.
