Roiko, Dormanen, Skoog earn Park Region honors

Menahga's Brandon Roiko, Andrew Skoog and Kyle Dormanen capped off their senior seasons by being named to the Park Region Conference baseball team.

The Braves also had three players earn all-conference honorable mention honors: senior Jake Sumner, junior Adam Meech and sophomore Tyler Ahlf.

Those six players led the Braves to third place in the conference standings with a 9-5 record. Menahga ended the season with a 13-9 overall record.

In 22 games this season, Roiko led Menahga with a .452 batting average (33 for 73), 25 runs, 14 stolen bases and 16 walks. Roiko finished second with 21 RBI and had seven doubles and one triple. In five starts and 13 appearances as a pitcher, Roiko went 3-1 with one save and a 5.89 ERA. Roiko allowed 47 hits and 28 runs (23 earned) with 19 walks and 27 strikeouts in 27.1 innings of work.

Dormanen finished second on the team in batting with a .434 average (33 for 76) and in steals with 11 while leading the Braves in RBI with 27. In 22 games, Dormanen also scored 17 runs and had seven doubles, two home runs and nine walks. Dormanen also pitched, going 3-3 with one save and a 2.89 ERA. Dor-manen pitched a team-leading 36.1 innings, allowing 41 hits and 29 runs (15 earned) with 19 walks and 37 strikeouts in 11 appearances, four as a starter.

Skoog made 13 pitching appearances, going 2-2 with two saves and a 3.85 ERA. Skoog made three starts and finished with 36 hits, 24 runs (13 earned), 11 strikeouts and five walks in 23.2 innings of work. Offensive-ly, Skoog batted .384 (28 for 73) with 20 runs, 18 RBI, five doubles, nine stolen bases and 11 walks in 22 games.

Sumner also played in all 22 games, hitting .269 (18 for 67) with 15 runs, 10 RBI, one double and two stolen bases. Sumner also had a 1-0 record with one save. In 13.2 innings of work, Sumner allowed 13 hits, 11 runs (six earned) and five walks while striking out nine for a 3.07 ERA.

Meech had a solid offensive season, batting .313 (15 for 48) with nine runs, seven RBI, five doubles and three stolen bases in 22 games.

Ahlf also played in all 22 games and batted .345 (20 for 58) with 13 runs, 10 RBI, six doubles, one home run, 12 walks and four stolen bases.

Roiko and Skoog also received Section 6A East honors. Those two players were selected to the 12-member subsection team.

For the season, Menahga hit .331 as a team and averaged 6.8 runs a game. The Braves had a team ERA of 4.40 and allowed 6.2 runs a game.
