Step into another era at the Hubbard County Historical Museum, appropriately located in the century-old courthouse on 3rd Street and Court Avenue.
Revisit the pioneers who logged Hubbard Country's forests, come winter, and tilled the fertile soil, come spring. The museum holds a variety of vintage memorabilia, with rooms set up to replicate the life of an early settler - a primitive cabin and one-room schoolhouse among the "settings."
Much of the furniture originates from the original courthouse, the safe from State Bank. Names of the original courthouse offices remain on the doors.
The military room displays artifacts from the Civil War and a 1915 Hochkiss machine gun used in World War I.
The Ira Benham Library and Resource Center, now on the first floor, features genealogy and research materials for Hubbard and surrounding counties.

Plans for this summer call for a Pioneer Families Room, visitors to become acquainted with some of Hubbard County's early residents.
A Communications Room will feature a switchboard (explain this to the kids), antique cameras (when "digital" referred to using fingers) and typewriters (that didn't correct spelling and grammar and couldn't send e-mails).
The historical museum is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and Sunday, June through August.
Free maps of the county are available at the museum.
