A Red Lake, Minn., man pleaded guilty Monday in federal court to punching, choking and kicking a woman, the U.S. attorney's office said in a news release.
Corey Randall Roberts, 30, pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon.
The release says Roberts admitted in a plea agreement that he punched the victim in the head during an argument Nov. 4. He also admitted that over the next three days, he choked her and kicked her in the chest and ribs while wearing shoes, the release states.
The victim reported the assault to authorities Nov. 20. She was taken to the Red Lake Indian Health Services Hospital and later to North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji to be treated.
Roberts faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. His sentencing date has not been set.
