R.S. "Dick" Gilderhus, 78, of Monticello, formerly of Park Rapids and Fargo, died Monday, June 30, 2008.
Born in Larimore, ND, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Red River Human Services Foundation in Fargo, and spent the previous 24 years in wholesale and retail sales management with Amoco Oil Co. He also served in the US Air Force.
He served as chair of the American Heart Association Minnesota and in numerous leadership roles, and was a lifelong advocate and volunteer for human services and charitable and community-supported projects.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Lu; children, Jan Palmgren, Jadene Wear, Terri Anthony and Keith (Connie); step-children, Shelley (Cliff) Odendahl, Tracy (Richard) Kragness, Laurie (Joe) Poquette, Kimberly (Laren) Metcalf; sister, Elsie (Charles) Asche, and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Merton and Vertis.

Funeral: Thursday, July 3 at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel, Monticello.
Visitation: one hour prior to Monday's service.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Monday, July 7 at Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore.
Interment: Bellevue Cemetery of Larimore.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association, American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association.
