Despite winning three of the first five events, the Park Rapids girls swimming and diving team fell to 1-1 in dual meets with a 112-73 loss to Thief River Falls Thursday night at the Area High School pool.
The Panthers opened the meet by winning the 200-yard medley relay and took first in the 200 individual medley and diving, but Thief River Falls used a 1-2-3 showing in the 200 freestyle and 1-2 efforts in the 100 butterfly, 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke to claim the win.
Allycia Zinke, Alexa Zunich-Andersen, Leah Meinert and Greta Ertl opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 2:10.66.
After the Prowlers claimed the top three spots in the 200 freestyle, Meinert clocked a 2:40.30 to win the 200 medley relay. Zunich-Andersen finished third in 2:46.71.
Ertl (in 28.50) and Kyja Penning (in 29.68) went 2-3 in the 50 freestyle before Penning took first in diving with 173.75 points.

Thief River Falls, which led 43-34 after diving, pulled away by winning six of the final seven events.
Zunich-Andersen finished third in the 100 butterfly in 1:18.77 and Ertl (in 1:02.66) and Zinke (in 1:03.40) went 2-3 in the 100 freestyle. Meinert added a third-place time of 6:28.27 in the 500 freestyle.
Park Rapids won the 200 freestyle relay as Kaitlyn Nelson, Zunich-Andersen, Zinke and Ertl teamed for a 1:57.94.
Taylor Ondracek took second in the 100 backstroke with a 1:13.29, Haas finished third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:23.75, and the 400 freestyle relay team of Penning, Ondracek, Meinert and Nelson was second in 4:27.51.
Leading the Panthers' junior varsity in an 82-43 loss was the 200 medley relay team of Katherine Erickson, Melissa Vanderstad, Hannah Williams and Jessica Andersen, which took first in 3:17.34. Andersen also took first in the 100 butterfly (in 2:00.63). Emily Creager was second in the 200 individual medley (3:15.68), Andersen was second in the 50 freestyle (37.39), Williams took second in the 100 freestyle (1:17.61) and Heather Kniss was second in the 100 backstroke (1:48.00). The 400 freestyle relay team of Andersen, Vanderstad, Kniss and Creager also took second in 6:15.71.
"Our times are about the same or better than last year at this time," said Park Rapids head coach Todd Fritze. "We just have to stay patient."
The Panthers competed at Fosston Tuesday night and will host their annual invitational meet Saturday with diving starting at 10 a.m. and the swimming events beginning at 1 p.m.
