FARGO - Police here are executing a search warrant at a north Fargo residence this morning, looking for a knife used in a reported stabbing earlier today that prompted police to surround the home for hours.
Lt. Joel Vettel says a man called police just after 4 a.m. from the 700 block of Third Street North saying he had been assaulted and that he was naked in the street.
"It sounds like he had to flee the apartment to escape the assault," Vettel said.
The stabbing victim told police he was in a residence in the area and got into a verbal fight with another man. When police responded to the scene, they found the man had stab wounds on his arm. Vettel said he was brought to the hospital with non-serious injuries.
Officers then set up and perimeter around the residence and sought a search warrant for the home.

After police attempted to contact people inside the house and prepared to execute the search, one man and two women came out about 9 a.m., Vettel said. The search began shortly thereafter.
The three people from the home are being interviewed by police this morning.
Vettel said the man that exited the home has a warrant for his arrest for an unrelated crime. He said it's a warrant of attachment, which typically stems from unpaid child support.
The victim told police he was stabbed by a man, Vettel said.
"We're still investigating what exactly happened inside," he said.
Arrests are possible, Vettel said.
