Philip Wade Symonds, 48, of Dilworth, formerly of Mahnomen and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008 in Moorhead.

He was born on June 11, 1960 in Crookston to Robert and Magdalen (Geray) Symonds. As a boy, he and his family moved to Sioux City, Iowa where he attended St. Boniface Catholic school and Blessed Sacrament Catholic school. As a teenager, his family moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he attended Kennedy High School and graduated in 1978.

Following his graduation, he began a career as a professional chef and baker. He had three children from his first marriage to Kelly Brumer. He had one daughter from his marriage to Amy Jo Radeke. Several years ago, he moved to Mahnomen and most recently to Dilworth.

He is survived by four children: Benjamin, Joseph, and Danielle, all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Alexis of Walford, Iowa; his mother, Magdalen of Mahnomen; eight siblings: LaDonna (Les) Tuton of Dilworth, Linda (Michael) Wensel of Burbank, S.D., Roberta Chase of Norway, Iowa, Deborah (Robert) Michel of Russell, Robert of Shellsburg, Iowa, Christopher (Denise) of Yorkville, Ill., Richard (Melissa) of Kersey, Colo., and Brenda (Timothy) Symonds-LaFleur of Las Vegas, Nev.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Symonds.

Visitation: 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and one hour prior to the Mass Friday morning.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beaulieu, with Father Rick Lambert as celebrant.

Casketbearers: Colin Tuton, Danny Geray, David Geray, Alex Symonds, Ryan Michel, John Johnson and Matt Geray.

Honorary casket bearers: the rest of his nieces and nephews: Patrick, Heather and Kari Tuton; Brian, Terra and Meghan Wensel; Samuel and Amelia Chase; Stephanie and Whitney Symonds; Shelby and Casey Symonds; Nicole, Adam and Kyle Symonds and Cory, Joshua, Patrick and Jackie LaFleur.

Interment: Symonds family plot in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Beaulieu.
