This is a column for and about pets. We are inviting vets, trainers and the public, any animal lover – to submit a photo or a story about their pet, be it a dog, cat, bird, pig or snake. Or anything else.
This column is named after a great red dog named Cody who left us too soon due to a series of maladies he couldn’t overcome.
Cody was our neighborhood’s Golden Retriever. He showed up at every picnic, bar-be-cue or outdoor event, and some indoor ones, too.
He didn’t overtly beg, just let everyone know he was there and would appreciate a nibble, or a gobble.
He got along with all the dogs in the ‘hood, even the cats. He loved to stand on your dock, watching the fish swim by, or do a last-second jump onto your boat if there was a rod and reel aboard. He was game for good companionship, wherever it came from.
We miss him dearly. He was put down 10 days ago and the neighborhood has-n’t been the same since.
If you have a pet story you’d like to share, please email it along with a photo to ssmith@parkrapidsenterprise.com and we’ll include it in the paper.
Again, we’d like to hear from not only pet owners, but businesses who cater to pets, cops who rescue them and people who want them but don’t currently have a pet. All animal lovers invited!
