It looks like the "cash for clunkers" vehicle program will be extended.
U.S. senators apparently have reached a deal, adding $2 billion to the popular rebate plan, and plan to vote on it today.
Last week, the U.S. House passed an extension of the program, although Rep. Collin Peterson, D-Detroit Lakes, is not among them.
The 7th District lawmaker voted against it, just as he didn't support a bailout for the auto manufacturing industry.
Peterson said Polaris and Arctic Cat, two manufacturers in his district, could use the same type of help the auto industry is getting because they're having problems moving their products, too.

If the bill passes in the Senate, the cash for clunkers program would extend until Labor Day.
