Pequot Lakes rallied to reap revenge with a Mid-State Conference victory over the Park Rapids volleyball team Tuesday night at the Area High School gym.
Park Rapids defeated the Patriots 25-17, 25-15 at the Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus tournament on Sept. 8 and held an early lead Tuesday night before Pequot Lakes rallied for a 26-24, 19-25, 16-25, 25-22, 15-8 victory.
In Game 1, a spike by Leeza Tostenson, a kill by Ayana Hartman, two kills by Hannah Wolff, a tip by Heather Tretbar and a block by Wolff helped the Panthers tie the match at 19-19. Two kills by Wolff and an ace serve by Tretbar gave Park Rapids a 23-20 lead before the Patriots rallied behind two ace serves by Emily Lueck and a kill by Katie Finn.
The Panthers controlled the next two games to take the lead.
Laura Haugland and Hartman teamed up for a block, Haugland had a winning tip, Hartman had another block, Tostenson had two spikes, Tretbar pounded down a kill and Wolff had a kill to give the Panthers a 12-8 edge. Tostenson then served two aces and seven straight points to push the lead to 19-8. Wolff had a pair of tips, a block and a spike during that stretch. A tip by Tretbar, a kill by Haugland and two kills by Wolff tied the match.

Two tips by Tostenson, a tip by Tretbar and ace serves by Hartman and Tostenson gave the Panthers a 14-7 lead in Game 3. Christine Malm served four points with kills by Hartman and Hailey Lundin for a 19-10 advantage. A spike by Malm, a tip by Hartman, an ace serve by Tretbar and a spike by Wolff ended the game.
Pequot Lakes jumped out to an 8-4 lead in Game 4 before a spike by Tostenson, a kill by Tretbar and an ace serve by Malm tied the game at 16-16. Tretbar's tip and ace serve, a kill by Wolff and a spike by Lundin kept the Panthers within 22-21 before Pequot Lakes closed out the game.
A dig by Lundin, a kill by Tretbar and a spike by Wolff gave the Panthers a 7-6 lead in Game 5 before Pequot Lakes went on a 9-1 run to rally for the win. Kayla Skog served the final five points as the Patriots dropped Park Rapids to 0-3 in the conference and 5-9 overall.
Kirsten Noska had 12 kills and three blocks and Finn had 11 kills to lead the Patriots.
Tretbar served six aces and 12 points to go along with 15 set assists. Tostenson also served 12 points, Wolff finished with 15 kills and two solo blocks, and Malm had 18 digs.
Park Rapids traveled to Bemidji Thursday night and will play at Pine River-Backus Tuesday night.
