Park Rapids' Kyja Penning is sitting in seventh place entering the diving finals at the state Class A girls swimming and diving meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
Penning, a junior, compiled 214.75 points after her first eight dives Thursday. Tori Raihle of Spring Lake Park is leading the field with 246.30 points. Following are Ashley Thorldahl of Mankato East/Loyola with 221.10 points, Jessi Haider of Melrose with 218.10 points, Shayna Dugger of Detroit Lakes with 217.50 points, Courtney Fleming of Austin with 217.10 points and Alex Thomsen of Chisago Lakes with 216.05 points. Chelsey Bethke of Sauk Rapids is in eighth place with 214.40 points.
The final round of three dives will be held Saturday. The top eight finishers receive all-state honors.
