The North Dakota Game and Fish Department is coming to help capture a wayward peacock that's bothering people in West Fargo.

The bird is wandering through neighborhoods along the Sheyenne River, prompting calls to police, said Assistant Police Chief Mike Reitan.

The peacock has been causing problems on and off since last summer, but the problems have recentlyy worsened, he said.

The bird makes loud screeching sounds, apparently because this is mating season, that disturb people in the early morning, he said.

The peacock also disrupts traffic and leaves droppings in people's yards.

No one has claimed the bird, he said, and nobody seems to know how to catch it, which led to Game and Fish being called in.

Reitan was uncertain when Game and Fish will begin its efforts.
