Governor Tim Pawlenty has ordered that all U.S. flags and Minnesota flags be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in the State of Minnesota, from sunrise until sunset on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, in honor and remembrance of Deputy Christopher L. Dewey.
The following is the text of the Governor's official proclamation:
Whereas: Deputy Christopher L. Dewey was born in Cambridge, Minnesota, on February 9, 1983; and
Whereas: Deputy Christopher L. Dewey graduated from Cambridge-Isanti High School, Cambridge, Minnesota, in 2001; and
Whereas: Deputy Christopher L. Dewey joined the Mahnomen County Sheriff's Department in 2004; and

Whereas: Deputy Christopher L. Dewey died a hero on Monday, August 9, 2010, from injuries suffered in the line of duty on February 18, 2009; and
Whereas: Deputy Christopher L. Dewey was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and a devoted family man, who had a wonderful sense of humor and a true love of life; and
Whereas: Deputy Christopher L. Dewey is survived by his wife, Emily; mother, Poppe (Keith); father, Mark (Jennifer); brothers and sisters, Daniel, Philip, Henry, Douglas, Sara, and Hana; and many other loving family and friends; and
Whereas: Deputy Christopher L. Dewey was preceded in death by his grandfather, Byron; and infant sister, Tracy Marie; and
Whereas: Visitation for Deputy Christopher L. Dewey will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Living Word Christian Center in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; and
Whereas: Memorial service with full police honors for Deputy Christopher L. Dewey will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Living Word Christian Center in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; and
Whereas: Interment with full police honors will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at Crystal Lake Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota; and
Whereas: The State of Minnesota recognizes Deputy Christopher L. Dewey for his dedicated service to and sacrifice for the people of Minnesota with our deepest gratitude, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and community.

Now, Therefore, I, Tim Pawlenty, Governor of Minnesota, do hereby order all U.S. and Minnesota flags be flown at half-staff at the Capitol Complex, including state buildings, monuments, and grounds in proximity to and including the Minnesota State Capitol from sunrise until sunset on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, in honor and remembrance of Deputy Christopher L. Dewey.
