Paul Bunyan Communications is continuing expansion of broadband to areas around the city of Park Rapids.
“We’ve already completed construction of most areas from Lake George to Two Inlets and from Lake George Road down to Hwy 34 east of Park Rapids (including Dorset) plus the areas in between. A bulk of that work was done last year so services are available to those areas,” said Brian Bissonette, marketing supervisor for Paul Bunyan Communications. “This year we are expanding in two areas outside of city limits that can potentially reach over 270 locations.”
The areas include:
* West of city of Park Rapids. The area will be Highway 34 north to 210th Street and includes southwest side of Portage Lake.

* East of the city of Park Rapids. The area will be south of Highway 34 as far east as 209th Avenue and as far south at 160th Street and will cover most of Peysenke Lake and the northern two-thirds of eastern Long Lake.
“We will also continue surveying rural areas outside of the city of Park Rapids to determine where there is enough interest to expand our all-fiber optic network even further in 2015,” Bissonette said.
The 2015 expansion survey areas include the area northwest of Two Inlets (Boot and Mud Lake) along with the area south of city limits to Blueberry Bridge Drive and as far east as 3rd Crow Wing Lake/Island Lake. This survey area does not include the City of Park Rapids or the City of Nevis.
If anyone in that area did not receive a survey and would like to find out if their specific location is in our 2015 survey area, they are encouraged to contact Paul Bunyan at 888-586-3100.
Based on the survey results, specific areas of expansion will be determined in May or June of 2015.
