The Park Rapids School Board on Monday approved a notice of the Nov. 3 general election for publication.
Three candidates are running for three seats on the school board. Seeking re-election are incumbent school board members Sherry Safratowich and Jay Pike. Dana Kocka is running for the seat currently held by Gary Gauldin.
Board secretary Kim Splett said the deadline to publish the first notice of election is Oct. 20, although early voting started Sept. 18.
Superintendent Lance Bagstad explained that the requirements for election notices still revolve around the Nov. 3 polling date and do not take early voting into account.
Splett reminded the school board that they adopted the general election resolution, as well as the two-question bonding referendum, in August.

The school board also scheduled ballot canvassing after the election for 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12.
Board members also discussed making campaign phone calls for the referendum “Vote Yes” committee.
Bagstad reported that a video about the bonding project, released last week, had received more than 3,000 views.
In consent items and general business, the school board:
Accepted the retirement of secretary Chris Nason effective Oct. 16, with regret and thanks for her 19 years of service to the school district.
Approved the resignations of Brett Bishop as junior high wrestling coach and Chelsie Weeding as assistant girls tennis coach effective at the end of the 2020 tennis season.
Hired Kelly Foco as an elementary paraprofessional, effective Sept. 28.
Approved teacher tenure for Katie Buckholtz, Nancy Brekke, Christine Sauer, Kevin Murphy, Jamie Morse, Jamie Simon-Linkowitz, Paula Pearson, Stephen Funk, Chari Buhman, Allison Steffen, Meghan Rykhus, Chris Boedigheimer, Gabe Claussen, Autumn Weber and Shalom Grandy.
Acknowledged donations including $2,500 from Jeri Johanning to Chris Boedigheimer’s middle school art classroom.
Approved fundraisers for the 2020-21 school year.
The school board’s next meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19 at the Frank White Education Center.
