The Park Rapids girls basketball team picked up its first win of the season by defeating Walker-Hackensack-Akeley 58-54 in the first round of the W-H-A tournament Wednesday night at Walker.

The Panthers will attempt to advance to the championship game by playing Mountain Iron-Buhl tonight (Thursday) at 8 in the semifinals. MI-B defeated Laporte 70-33 Wednesday night.

The Park Rapids boys hockey team scored four goals in the third period to rally for a 6-3 win over North Metro at the Eveleth-Gilbert tournament.

The Panthers play Waupaca, WI, today (Thursday) at 12:45.

The Park Rapids boys basketball team hosts its holiday tournament today (Thursday) and Friday. Nevis plays East Grand Forks at 3:30 and Park Rapids plays International Falls at 7 in today's semifinals. The third-place game will be played Friday at 5:15 followed by the championship game at 7.
