Park Rapids Council sets 2010 tax levy; will meet to discuss general fund budget

Park Rapids City Council has approved the 2010 preliminary tax levy at about the same amount as 2009.

The total proposed tax levy is $1,983,127 with $1,406,032 for the general fund.

"We've got a draft ready for the general fund but we need to meet and discuss the expenditures in it," said city administrator Bill Smith.

The budget is a repeat of this year, Smith said. "It's bare bones."

The only way it would change is if something catastrophic happened "like an engine falling out of a squad car," he said.

The council will be reviewing the capital improvement plan along with the general fund and enterprise fund budgets at a future meeting, he said.
