It seems time flies the older we get and the further we are from high school. Plans are in place to celebrate days gone by with the Park Rapids All-School Reunion set for Aug. 13-16. Committee chair and class of 1958 graduate Lefty Anderson is busy planning and promoting the reunion, which comes along every five years. “It’s a lot of fun. We’re hoping for good weather,” Lefty said. “The reunion brings people to town and a lot of money into the community.” A fundraising dinner for the event is set for May 22 at the Park Rapids American Legion. The reunion kicks off Thursday, Aug. 13 with Second Street Stage in downtown Park Rapids. Two bands take the stage for the planned event with the high school band Incredibly Real at 6 p.m. and main band Tree Party at 7 p.m. Registration opens at 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14 at Century School. A historical display will be set up at the school and coffee and rolls served. Anderson said this registration time is a great opportunity for folks to mingle. The Park Rapids Historical Society is hosting and ice cream social later that morning at the museum. Starting at 1:30 p.m. bus tours of Park Rapids will also take place, giving graduates a chance to see all the changes around town over the years, Anderson said. The Wilson Bradley Band will be playing at the American Legion on Friday, starting at 8 p.m. Registration continues at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15. A reunion parade is scheduled for 3:00 with three alumni all over the age of 100 expected to serve as co-Grand Marshals. The Park Rapids Area High School football team will put on a dinner at the American Legion to raise funds for the program. The reunion continues Sunday morning with a service at the high school auditorium with author Will Weaver serving as Master of Ceremonies. The final activity of the weekend is the Flotilla on the Fish Hook River starting at 2 p.m. For more information and a full list of activities visit the official reunion website at: www.prhsreunion.com .
