Zach Knapp's two goals in the second period provided a lead and Zach Lehrke's two goals in the third period provided a win as the Park Rapids-Menahga boys hockey team defeated Detroit Lakes 5-3 Tuesday night at the Ted O. Johnson Ice Arena.
Despite having a 17-6 advantage in shots, the Panthers trailed 1-0 after the first period. Tanner Lane's goal at the 15:06 mark was the lone goal in the opening period.
Knapp's pair of goals within a span of 1:18 put the Panthers in front. Tucker Coborn and Lehrke set up Knapp's first goal at the 9:56 mark and Coborn and Kevin McMor-row assisted on Knapp's second goal with 8:38 remaining in the second period.
After Davis Johnson tied the game with 14:31 to play, Lehrke tallied at the 13:34 mark to put Park Rapids back in front. Landon Kohlrusch assisted on that goal. Lane tied the game at 3-3 with 12:01 left with his second goal of the game before Lehrke scored the game-winner with 9:51 left. Lehrke and Kohlrusch assisted on a power-play goal by Billy Winkler with 3:34 remaining to seal the victory.
Park Rapids' goalie Mark Smith made 18 saves as the Panthers held a 48-21 advantage in shots on goal. The win lifted the Panthers to 5-0 on the season.

"This is a good rivalry. Any time you beat DL it's a good win and a confidence booster," said Park Rapids head coach Pete Stahnke. "We played hard, but we made some mental mistakes. We still have a lot of things to work on."
In the junior varsity game, Ryan Kent scored in overtime to give the Panthers a 4-3 win. Cody Brostrom, Andy Floyd and Kent had the Panthers' other goals while Ben Sitz had two assists. Jared Naeve, Brostrom and Bruno Ramos also had assists.
The Panthers, who played at Section 8A rival East Grand Forks Friday night, will travel to Wadena Tuesday night and to Bagley next Thursday night.
