Panthers serve up win over Cass Lake

The Park Rapids volleyball team relied on 13 ace serves and 39 kills to spark a 25-18, 25-21, 25-18 win over Cass Lake last Thursday night at Cass Lake.

The Park Rapids volleyball team relied on 13 ace serves and 39 kills to spark a 25-18, 25-21, 25-18 win over Cass Lake last Thursday night at Cass Lake.

Maria Goetz, Taylor Smythe and Ayana Hartman each served three aces and combined for 24 service points. Hannah Wolff and Hailey Lundin served two aces each while Hartman (13) and Lundin (11) combined for 24 kills Goetz (17) and Smythe (13) combined for 30 set assists.

Defensively, Shelby Weckwerth had 17 digs and Lundin had 15 digs as the Panthers improved to 7-11.

Cardinals defeat Panthers

Nikki Pearson's 12 kills and four ace serves led Staples-Motley to a 25-16, 22-25, 23-25, 25-11, 15-12 Mid-State Conference victory over the Panthers Tuesday night at Staples.

Angi Bernstrom served five aces as the Cardinals improved to 2-0 in the conference and 9-7 overall.

Wolff served two aces and 14 points, Lundin served four aces and Leeza Tostenson served 11 points to lead the Panthers. Hartman (10), Lundin (8) and Olivia Vaadeland (7) combined for 25 kills while Goetz had 20 set assists.

Defensively, Lundin had 18 digs, Jenny Palm had 14 digs and Hartman had 13 digs. Wolff led the way with two solo blocks.

The loss dropped Park Rapids to 1-3 in conference matches.
