The Park Rapids girls tennis team closed out the regular season with a 7-12 overall record after dropping a pair of dual meets at Crookston last Saturday.
The Panthers opened with a 5-2 loss to Crookston and followed with a 4-3 loss to Roseau in the regular-season finale.
Amy Luther and Holly Roepke won a close match at No. 1 doubles while Jodi Ryan and Mindy Lawrence prevailed in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles to account for the Panthers' two wins against Crookston.
Against Roseau, Allison Lempola won in straight sets at No. 4 singles, Luther and Megan Lawrence coasted to a victory at No. 1 doubles, and Danielle Kent and Kelsey Lempola rolled to a straight-set win at No. 3 doubles as the Panthers suffered their fifth 4-3 loss of the season.
Park Rapids will host the South Subsection 8A team tournament Monday beginning at 1 p.m. with No. 3 Park Rapids playing No. 2 Wadena-Deer Creek at the Century School courts and No. 1 Staples-Motley playing either No. 4 Perham or No. 5 New York Mills at the Depot Courts in the two semifinal matches. The subsection title match will follow at 3 p.m. at the Depot Courts. The subsection champion will advance to the Section 8A title match Oct. 18 at Sartell.

Park Rapids will also host the South Subsection individual tournament next Thursday starting at 11 a.m. The top-four finishers in singles and doubles advance to the Section 8A meet Oct. 19 at Sartell.

Panthers go 1-2 at TRF
Ryan and Mindy Lawrence won all three of their matches at No. 3 doubles as the Panthers went 1-2 at a quadrangular meet at Thief River Falls last Thursday.
The Panthers defeated East Grand Forks 6-1, lost to Roseau 4-3 and dropped a 5-2 decision to Thief River Falls.
Park Rapids volleyed past East Grand Forks behind straight-set doubles wins by Luther and Roepke at the No. 1 spot, Kelsey Lempola and Alyssa Klingenberg at the No. 2 position, and Ryan and Mindy Lawrence at the No. 3 spot. Megan Lawrence at the No. 2 spot, Mary Kading at the No. 3 spot and Julia Kujawa at the No. 4 spot added wins in singles.
Roseau escaped with a 4-3 win by sweeping the singles matches. The Luther/Roepke, Kelsey Lempola/Klingenberg and Ryan/Mindy Lawrence doubles teams all won in straight sets.
Kading's straight-set win at No. 3 singles and a tiebreaker victory by Ryan and Mindy Lawrence at No. 3 doubles led the Panthers against Thief River Falls.
