Panthers open season with 4-1 win

A three-goal third period lifted the Park Rapids-Menahga-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley girls hockey team to a 4-1 victory at Pequot Lakes in the season opener Tuesday night.

A three-goal third period lifted the Park Rapids-Menahga-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley girls hockey team to a 4-1 victory at Pequot Lakes in the season opener Tuesday night.

Ashley Sauer's goal in the second period tied this Mid-State Conference game at 1-1 before goals by Elise Loomis, Jessica Gapinski and Leeza Tostenson in the third period gave the Panthers the win.

Goalie Bailey Moore made 20 saves in her varsity debut for the Panthers, who held a 37-21 advantage in shots on goal.
