Panthers cap off homecoming with dramatic win

The winning play on fourth-and-19 capped off homecoming week as the Panthers improved to 3-1 on the season. Roseau fell to 2-2.

After Roseau took a 6-0 lead on Lyle Norman's 1-yard TD plunge with :04 remaining in the first quarter, Vaadeland gave the Panthers an 8-6 lead with a 9-yard TD run and 2-point conversion with 1:29 remaining in the first half.

Roseau reclaimed a 12-8 lead on Kevin Erickson's 5-yard quarterback keeper with 8:55 to play. Erickson rushed for 204 yards in the game.

Park Rapids then scored the go-ahead touchdown before Colin Vaadeland recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff to preserve the win.

Walsh rushed for 121 yards and threw for another 104 yards to spark the win.

In other Park Rapids homecoming events:

The Park Rapids girls swimming and diving team improved to 4-0-1 on the season with a 104-82 win over Perham/New York Mills Thursday night at the Area High School pool.

The Park Rapids volleyball team dropped a 25-20, 25-22, 25-22 match to Thief River Falls Thursday night at the Area High School gym.
