Both the Park Rapids boys and girls basketball teams will be playing for tournament titles today (Friday).

The Park Rapids girls basketball team reached the championship game of the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Holiday Tournament with a 55-53 victory over Mountain Iron-Buhl Thursday night at Walker. The Panthers, who improved to 2-8 on the season, will play Pequot Lakes in Friday's title game at 6:30 p.m.

The Park Rapids boys basketball team advanced to the championship game of the Park Rapids Holiday Tournament with a 66-62 victory over International Falls in Thursday's semifinals. The Panthers, who improved to 3-2 on the season, will play East Grand Forks in Friday's title game at 7 p.m. East Grand Forks defeated Nevis 79-39 in Thursday's other semifinal game. Nevis will play International Falls in Friday's third-place game at 5:15.

The Park Rapids-Menahga boys hockey team remained undefeated on the season with a 9-1 win over Waupaca (Wis.) at the Eveleth-Gilbert tournament Thursday. The Panthers, who improved to 10-0 on the season, conclude tournament play by playing Eveleth-Gilbert Friday night at 7.

The Menahga boys basketball team opened play in the Concordia Holiday Tournament with a 56-52 loss to Ulen-Hitterdal. The Braves play Rothsay Friday afternoon at 1:45 and Brandon-Evansville Saturday afternoon at 1:15.

The Nevis girls basketball team lost to Sebeka 60-52 in the consolation bracket of the W-H-A Holiday Tournament Thursday. Nevis plays Laporte in Friday's seventh-place game.
