Mills Liquors in New York Mills could face a fine from the county after failing an alcohol compliance check conducted by Otter Tail County on Friday.

On Friday, Aug. 21, a total of 95 businesses were checked in the cities of Pelican Rapids, Perham, New York Mills, Battle Lake, Henning and Parkers Prairie. Fourteen businesses failed during Friday's compliance checks. Mills Liquors was the only New York Mills establishment to fail.

The checks are conducted twice a year, according to Sgt. Barry Fitzgibbons of the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office. The checks are conducted by Sheriff's Office teams sending a minor into businesses that sell liquor in an attempt to purchase alcohol. In the case of New Yorks Mills, the minor was able to make a purchase in the off-sale.

Four Perham businesses - Mulligan's, Landmark Liquors, Main Street Express, and Perham Oasis - also failed the checks.
