The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office has identified a Vergas man who died after a two-vehicle crash Tuesday on a snow-covered county highway.

William Day, 60, was pronounced dead upon arrival at St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes.

According to a sheriff's office news release:

A 1985 GMC conversion van was northbound on Highway 35 about one mile south of Vergas shortly before 12:30 p.m. when the driver appeared to have lost control because of the snow-covered road.

The van slid into the southbound lane and struck a 2001 Chevy pickup driven by Day on its driver's side.

The drivers of both vehicles were extricated by the Vergas Fire Department and taken by Pelican Rapids Ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes.

The driver of the van, Johnathon Bowerman, 36, of Detroit Lakes, sustained injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Three passengers in the van were treated for minor cuts at the scene.
