Norma Garden, 96, of Twin Valley, formerly of Gary, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at the Twin Valley Living Center.
She was born Jan. 12, 1911, the daughter of Nels and Selma (Grettum) Haugen in Ulen. At a young age, she moved with her family to Manvel, ND, where she attended school. The family later moved to Gary and she graduated from Gary High School with the Class of 1928.
She married Raymond Garden Jan. 17, 1932. She moved into Lincoln Terrace, assisted living facility, in Twin Valley in 2001. In 2006, she made her home at the Twin Valley Living Center.
She was an active life-long member of the Gary Lutheran Church, WELCA and the Gary American Legion Auxiliary. She participated in Bible studies and was a member of a quilting group.
Surviving are her children, Audrey (James) Glick, Grand Forks, and Rodney (Judy), Park Rapids; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, sister, Bernice Haugen, and brothers, Glen and Everett.
Funeral: Friday, Jan. 11 at Gary Lutheran Church with Pastor John Ahola officiating.
Casket bearers: her grandchildren, Kristin Wilson, Ryan Garden, Karla Fordham, Valerie Horsager and Jonell Richards.
Interment: St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery, Gary.
