Norbert John Welle, 73, of Park Rapids died Thursday, Sept. 6 at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids.
He was born June 8, 1934 in Spring Hill to Norbert and Evelyn (Buttwieler) Welle. He moved with his family to Avon and graduated from Avon High School. He then worked for the Great Northern Railroad in St. Cloud. He served in the US Navy from 1954 to 1957. Following his discharge, he returned to St. Cloud and resumed working for the railroad.
He married Colleen Marcotte in New Rockford, ND in 1954. They lived in a number of communities, moving to Moorhead in 1968. He retired in 1993. They moved to Park Rapids in 1994 and spent winters in Arizona.
He is survived by his wife; children, Rick of Superior, WI, Nancy (Tom) Cossett of Humble, TX, Lori (Brian) Wenner of Moorhead, Kellie Jo (Jim) Osowski of Detroit Lakes and Randy (Beth) of Moorhead; sister, Mary Schlagheck of Sartell; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard, and a sister, Roselyn.

Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, Sept. 11 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids with Father Dennis Wieland officiating.
