Students in Park Rapids have started to be sick but aren't yet displaying flu-like symptoms, according to the school nurse.
"We've had a few more students sick but not significantly more," said Marianne Gilbertson, Park Rapids Area High School nurse.
The nurses have been busy but the school hasn't reached the threshold of 5 percent of students being sick, she said. At that point, the district would need to notify the state.
Students haven't been displaying symptoms of the flu yet, Gilbertson said.
The school is emphasizing the basics: washing hands, covering coughs.

According to the Minnesota Department of Health, symptoms of H1N1 influenza are similar to the seasonal flu and include a fever above 100 degrees, cough, sore throat, stuffy nose and in some cases diarrhea and vomiting.
Flu activity in Minnesota has been classified as "widespread," based on U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention criteria, according to MDH.
