Wal-Mart is hiring an estimated 300 workers for its new store slated to open this fall at 3757 55th Ave. S. in Fargo.
The company has opened a temporary hiring center in Fargo at 4650 Amber Valley Parkway, Suite 1. It started accepting applications Monday.
Interviews will start Thursday morning, said store manager John Pies.
"We've been incredibly pleased with the interest we've had so far," Pies said. "A lot of great, talented individuals have been coming in and speaking with us."
Applicants have included Wal-Mart employees who work at the Fargo and Dilworth stores and want to work closer to their homes or move into leadership positions, Pies said.

He does not expect any problems filling the positions.
There have been 200 fewer people employed in retail in the past year in Fargo-Moorhead, said North Dakota Job Service Area Manager Marty Aas.
"This will help those people who have lost jobs other places because of the downturn," he said.
The store is hiring full- and part-time associates in all areas, including supervisory positions. Wages start at $7.50 an hour and increase based on position and experience, Pies said.
Benefits, available to full- and part-time workers include health insurance, a 401(k) plan and profit sharing contributions, store discount cards, a stock purchase program, and life insurance.
New hires will start orientation and training prior to Sept. 21, when merchandise will be moved into the store. They will start working in the store between Sept. 21 and Oct. 10.
The new Wal-Mart is planned to open Oct. 28. It will have a full line of groceries, as well as retail, a hair salon, a money center and a Subway restaurant. It has a more open layout than the existing Fargo Wal-Mart, and consumable goods such as shampoo and other toiletries will be located closer to the groceries, Pies said.
