A dominating effort in the regular-season finale last Saturday night gave the Nevis girls basketball team the Northwoods Conference title.

The Tigers jumped out to a 47-11 lead at the half in coasting to an 82-32 victory over Blackduck at the Tiger Arena. That win gave Nevis an 11-1 record in the conference and 23-2 overall record entering the Section 6A East playoffs.

Ali Hesse scored 20 points and had 11 rebounds while Gretta Hjelseth added 20 points and nine rebounds. Anne Rittgers also hit double figures in scoring with 10 points while Jill Wizik led Nevis with eight assists.

"It was a great win," said Nevis head coach Scott Kramer. "The team is playing well and looking forward to tournaments."
