FARGO - A St. Michael, N.D., woman is charged with felony theft after court documents state she was arrested after spending 11 hours in a South Fargo Walmart last Friday, then attempting to shoplift 78 items concealed about her person without paying for them.

The charging documents in the case against Jessie Fay Cavanaugh, 20, say store loss prevention officers watched her for several of the hours Cavanaugh was in the store, then called Fargo police when she tried to get into a cab. Documents say the 78 items had a combined total of more than a thousand dollars. Court documents say the arresting officer observed that Cavanaugh "appeared to be under the influence of something." Cavanaugh appeared in Cass County court Monday on charges of felony theft.
