FORT TOTTEN, N.D. – Three motorcyclists were cited for reckless driving after being clocked at 151 mph in a 55 mph zone near here Wednesday, the Highway Patrol reported.
A state trooper pulled the men over about 8:30 p.m. on Highway 57, about three miles west of Fort Totten, Patrol spokesman Sgt. Robert Kennedy said. “They’re keepers!” Kennedy said Thursday.
The three Devils Lake men, who were not identified, were issued speeding citations of $355 apiece. Additional citations for driving without a motorcycle endorsement and no liability insurance were also issued, Kennedy said.
Reckless driving is a Class B misdemeanor, punishable by up to 30 days in jail and maximum fine of $1,500. The men have been told to appear in Benson County District Court on Aug. 11 on the charge, Kennedy said.

Kennedy said the names of the men will be released when the state’s attorney formally files charges in the case.
Kennedy said state troopers in the Devils Lake region have been dealing with high-speed motorcycle incidents since April.
“There’s been an ongoing issue this summer with motorcycles,” he said.
