FARGO - The North Dakota Highway Patrol seized $286,000 in cash from a vehicle during a traffic stop Tuesday morning.
A trooper stopped a vehicle about 1:45 a.m. today as the driver exited Interstate 29 onto 13th Avenue South without headlights activated, the Highway Patrol said.
During the traffic stop, the trooper detected signs of criminal activity and requested a K-9 officer to respond. A search found a small amount of narcotics and just over $286,000 in cash, the Highway Patrol said.
The driver, Sean David Harken, 33, from Vashon, Wash., was arrested on suspicion of drug charges and taken to the Cass County Jail, authorities said. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting with the case.
