Northome-Kelliher's defense allowed only 34 yards rushing as the Mustangs rallied in the second half for a 14-6 9-man football victory at Nevis last Friday afternoon.
A 71-yard screen pass from Chris Gooch to Chad Schmidt set up a 1-yard quarterback keeper by Gooch as Nevis claimed a 6-0 lead in the first quarter.
That lead held up until Ray Schuh's 8-yard TD run and conversion with 3:16 to play in the third quarter and Dylan Ungerecht's 6-yard TD run with 6:57 to play rallied the Mustangs to the win. Northome-Kelliher improved to 2-2 on the season.
Gooch completed 17 of 26 passes for 220 yards with Schmidt catching eight passes for 132 yards. Jon Gunkel had six receptions for 55 yards.
Defensively, Jake Van Horn led the Tigers with 19 solo tackles. Chris Kirsch-man had Nevis' only turn-over with a fumble recovery in this Great Northern West Conference game.
