Nevis hit three home runs, but Midway relied on singles, walks and errors to post a 13-4 Lake and Pine League amateur baseball victory Sunday afternoon.
The Snurdbirds belted out 15 hits, including 14 singles, and took advantage of six errors and six walks to improve to 6-1 in Lake and Pine League play.
Jordan Anderson hit two solo home runs and Andy Lindow added a solo blast to lead Nevis, which fell to 2-7 on the season.
Anderson's lead-off homer in the first inning gave Nevis a 1-0 lead before Midway claimed the lead for good by scoring five times in the second. Walks to Mike Baso and Travis Lusti, an error and Pete Marjamaa's sacrifice bunt started the inning. With two outs, Brad Lusti lined a two-run single, Drew Rasmussen singled, and Ben Davis had an RBI single. After a walk to Chris Baso, Mike Baso was hit by a pitch to bring in the final run.
In the third, Luke Herbert singled with one out, Anderson doubled, and Jeremy Anderson and Brent Brattlof walked as Nevis closed the margin to 5-2.

Two errors helped Midway score three times in the sixth. Rasmussen led off with a single and scored on a throwing error on Davis' grounder. An RBI single by Chris Baso and another error gave Midway an 8-2 advantage.
Two more Nevis errors pushed the Snurdbirds' lead to 12-2 in the seventh. Brad Lusti led off with a single and Rasmussen was safe on an error. Davis followed with a two-run triple and Chris Baso followed with a run-scoring grounder. An error and Jeff Marjamaa's RBI single gave Midway a 10-run advantage.
Jordan Anderson's solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning prevented Midway from winning via the 10-run rule and extended the game.
Midway scored its final run in the ninth on singles by Chris Baso, Jeff Marjamaa and Pete Marjamaa.
Lindow's lead-off homer in the bottom of the ninth ended the scoring.
Davis and Brad Lusti each went 3 for 5, scored two times apiece and combined for five RBI to lead Midway. Rasmussen went 2 for 6 with three runs, Chris Baso went 2 for 5 with two runs and two RBI, Jeff Marjamaa went 2 for 6 and Pete Marjamaa went 2 for 5. Mike Baso also scored twice. Dustin Burkman picked up the win by allowing six hits over seven innings. Burkman struck out 11 and walked two. George Baso pitched the final two innings, allowing one hit and striking out two.
Lindow started and took the loss for the Shysters. Lindow gave up five runs on six hits. Andy Sandberg pitched two innings, Eric Schmid pitched two innings and Jeremy Anderson pitched the ninth. Jordan Anderson went 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBI to pace Nevis' six-hit attack.
Midway hosts Wolf Lake Saturday afternoon and Huntersville Sunday afternoon in a doubleheader while Nevis hosts Red Eye in a doubleheader Sunday.
