Mickey Zallar
Mickey J. Zallar, 68, of Akeley died Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at his home.
He was born Jan. 10, 1938 to Martin and Katherine "Katie" (Godec) Zallar in Chisholm. He grew up in Rauch and attended school at Orr. He lived in California for five years before moving to Hibbing, where he was a painter for Rayco Painting and Decorating.
He married Betty Hayward in 1961 in Hibbing. He moved to Minneapolis, where he was a self-employed painting contractor for more than 25 years. In 1992, he bought Dream-Away Resort on Lake Belle Taine. He lived in Akeley the past five years.
He was a member of the Lions Club, the Brooklyn Park Fire Department and Park Rapids Collector's Club.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons, Pat-rick of Nevis and Daniel of Minneapolis; daughter, Suzette "Sue" Zallar of St. Michael; the mother of his children, Betty Mason of Brooklyn Park; two brothers, Richard of Wayzata and Butch (Carol) of Silverdale; two sisters, Jody (John) Chovan of International Falls and Kathy Zallar of Hopkins; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. today (Saturday) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cook with Father Larry Antus, OMI officiating. St. Mary's choir will sing and Carolyn Blossom will provide the accompaniment.
Honorary casketbear-ers: Keith Pierson, Arnold Lokken and Joe Hines.
Active casketbearers: Ron, Brad and Randy Nosie, David Rent, John Godec and "Slugger" Foss.
Interment: St. Bridget's Cemetery in Greaney.
