Athorities say methamphetamine use and winter cold caused the deaths of two Mahnomen men whose bodies were found several weeks after they disappeared.
Frank Brown, 31, of Naytahwaush went missing Oct. 4 and his body was found Oct. 17. Dennis Lang, Jr., 23, of Mahnomen was missing nearly two weeks before his body was located Nov. 13.
Mahnomen County Sheriff Doug Krier says autopsy results show that Brown died from hypothermia with a significant amount of methamphetamine as a contributing factor. Lang’s autopsy showed that he died from methamphetamine toxicity.
The investigations into both deaths will remain open as the sheriff’s office and the White Earth Police Department try to track down the meth suppliers.
Krier said the drug is showing up more frequently on the White Earth Reservation after years of declining use.
