A Menahga man was charged July 22 in Wadena County with a felony for allegedly violating a harassment restraining order by sending 20 text messages in one hour to someone whom he was not allowed to contact.
Shaun Michael Thornton, 29, was charged with harassment -- violation of a restraining order for sending the texts to a woman who was granted a harassment restraining order on May 4. On June 21, police observed 20 text messages sent to the woman's phone between 10:42 p.m. and 11:32 p.m. that night.
Thornton has prior domestic-violence related offense convictions from September 2003 and April 2005.
His first court appearance was set for Aug. 17.
