The Park Rapids School Board, convening a special meeting Monday, awarded bids for the mechanical ventilation improvement project and pool filtration equipment replacement.
"The bids are very attractive compared to the estimates," Dave Bergeron of Johnson Controls told the board. "But that's not unexpected. Contractors are chomping to get going."
The equipment-only bid for modular air handling units for the ventilation project was awarded to Schwab, Vollhaber, Lubratt, Inc. of St. Paul at a cost of $321,650. The contract estimate was $373,114.
The contract for compressors, condensing units and other material was awarded to Trane of Fargo at $151,392. Contract estimate was $179,279.
The equipment was to be ordered Tuesday, with its arrival expected in 10 weeks.

An April 29 bid deadline has been set for the installation package.
The pool filtration equipment bid was awarded to Aqua Logic, Inc. of Waconia at $185,020. Contract estimate was $219,121.
Principal Al Judson said the pool will be shut down from the last week in May and three weeks into June.
In other action, the board commended state wrestling competitors Jared Nash, who took fourth in his weight class; John Drury, sixth; and Danny Pike and Kenny Weaver.
Judson reported the tournament was well-attended with 50,000 to 60,000 wrestling fans arriving for the event.
