Ryan Mathisrud is the new Park Rapids City Planner.
Mathisrud comes to Park Rapids from Ottumwa, Iowa, where he was City Planner. In Ottumwa, he worked with downtown groups on historic preservation in the city.
He grew up in River Falls, Wis., and spent time outdoors fishing and camping.
He and his wife, Crystal, knew that they wanted to move to northern Minnesota someday and when the Park Rapids job opened up the timing was perfect. They have a 2-year-old son, James. Mathisrud also spent six years in the Minnesota National Guard.
“I really like the people here in Park Rapids,” he said. “I like the downtown. They really did a great job with it.”
He plans to keep current projects moving in the right direction and get a feel for what the community wants to see.
